Exercize

I wonder if my neighbors ever watch me exercise? I mostly dance after dark so I can use my windows as big mirrors. I don't mind being a weird person that does that thing because, whether we realize it or not, we all need people like that in our lives.
I am still uncomfortable with the idea of visiting the community gym. My job demands that I spend a lot of my time on display. When I'm at work, I feel like a hamster who's cage doesn't have a hut. In my private time, I much rather engage in situations that don't demand convivial banter.

I made this giant chocolate box.
There is about four feet of snow on the ground right now.

No Flex Zone

Wintertime is setting in. I dance for exercise - keep the heat at 58°F. My houseplants typically go into a state of dormancy due to brief daylight hours, low temps, and lack of humidity. Some whitefly came in with the colocasia (aka black magic elephant's ear, pictured right) and I've been treating the outbreak with Safer Soap. If you love the smell of powdered doughnuts and hate toxic chemicals, Safer Soap is the organic plant pest treatment for you.

Here I am, sporting a thin veil of patience while I wait for the arrival of Spring. If this waiting game were a visit to the doctor's office, I would not be getting a "GREAT JOB" sticker at the end of my check-up. In a month or so, I'll be knocking pollen out of these old cushions and sharing a sunny spot next to the dozing neighborhood cat. Yes, I can almost hear the tinkling of ice in my Campari...
Also, I cut my hair! I wanted to look like a little German boy. It looks like a mushroom cap / Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber / early Beatles mop.

Wool Socks

Hi guys,

I am on vacation. I am spending it in the house. These are pictures of my night tonight. I think I'll take a bath now because I need to wash my bangs. Hope this letter finds you happy and healthy.

      Yours truly,

Here's a little send-off from Kate Bush — it's my favorite song on 50 Words For Snow:

For extra credit, check out the title track "50 Words For Snow". (SPOILER: Stephen Frye monotonously recites Inuit snow words for eight minutes. It makes me feel like I'm watching performance art that I reaaaaaaly shouldn't be giggling at but I juuuuust can't help it... You know. But, like, in a good way.)

Smoke Bomb

I would love to experiment with colored smoke bombs but, when you live on an island, using flares and distress signals for art will warrant a visit from the coast guard. Even inland. So, you know. Excitinnnng!

Roger Moore's James Bond gets desperately creative with a smoke flare in A View To A Kill (1985)
So, like, PRETTY MUCH: During a snowy downhill chase, an orange Commie helicopter blows up Bond's orange stolen Commie snowmobile and he uses the broken ski from the now defunct Commie snowmobile to shred down the glacial mountain doing 'gnar tricks 'n cliff jumps (Tom Sims) while dodging Commie machine gun fire (all while wearing a white parka trimmed with fur and makin' it look, like, so easy) and when he gets to the bottom of the mountain the orange Commie helicopter is still raining bullets down so he grabs for his pack and draws out a distress flare and with a practiced hand shoots is straight into the cabin of the 'copter and the Commie pilots are pissed and they start spinning out of control in a beautiful haze of smoke, blaze orange against the white snow and blue sky, and then they BLOW UP. James Bond then makes his way to a submarine disguised as an iceberg where a beautiful scantily clad babe is waiting for him to make out with her.
