Ronin Sweaters

      This week, I discovered the fresh and deliberate storytelling of director John Frankenheimer. His patient heist film Ronin (1998) was a thrill to watch and had the strong and steady pulse of a handsome European racing cyclist. Natascha McElhone really nailed the enigmatic and icy Irish lass Deirdre. So did costume designer May Routh:

    Most folks now would consider her denim "mom jeans" but back then they were boyfriend jeans. After the zip ankle women's denim of the late 80s, some women wore men's jeans and it looked great!
